I find that music urges us to think, to 'marinate in the moment.'
Acoustic tracks are, perhaps, one of the best opportunities to be both interrogative and reflective.
The Work-Life Bloom June Playlists are an homage to my need to contemplate, pause, and think.
Part I spans 50 years with tracks from Gordon Lightfoot through The Backstreet Lovers and The Tallest Man on the Earth. It contains one of my favourite covers of all time, "Sweet Jane" by the Cowboy Junkies, originally recorded by the Velvet Underground. Canada's Elliott BROOD and Neil Young make an appearance, as well as Nick Drake's "Pink Moon," hands down a top 10 song about death and the afterlife.
Part II includes a gem of a duet between Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan on "Girl From the North Country" as well as 'out there' acoustic songs from Radiohead, Bon Iver, and Rogue Wave. Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" is often on heavy rotation for me, as is Damien Rice's "Trusty and True," an absolute soul-searching missile of a song.
If I knew how to easily transfer this to Spotify, I would, but I'm an Apple Music subscriber, so hopefully, you figure it out if you're not with Apple Music.
