I'm not exactly a religious guy, in fact, I'd probably argue that I'm a "Cafeteria Catholic" (oh, the blasphemy) but I've nonetheless always remembered a Mother Theresa quotation:
Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway.
As a leader of people for many years now, I hope my colleagues (former and current) agree that amongst my many weaknesses, a strength of mine is to be (brutally) honest, no matter the scenario as well as being equallyย transparent with my actions, words, ideas or issues.
I also hope that my goats (aka the 8, 6 and 4 year-olds) along with my better half recognize that amidst my various foibles, I'll be foreverย honest and transparent in my lifelong actions with them.
In 2012, perhaps for my own personalย sake of honesty and tranparency (or is it mid-life crisis stupidity?), I thought publishing my personal goals for the year in this space might be a natural evolutionary step to take. Perhaps it's being vulnerable ... anyway.
In no particular order, my personal goals for 2012 are as follows:
Cycle the mountains in Lucca, Italy with better halfย by Aug, 30
As of 3/31 - booked for July 26
As of 6/30 - raring to go
As of 12/12 - Done (great trip)
Read one book per month
As of 3/31 - on track
As of 6/30 - on track
As of 12/12 - Done (I should do book reviews at some point)

Barb Kinnard, CEO Response Biomedical Corp
Dan not only brought his presentation to life with his charisma, but also content, style and presentation finesse. Our members were especially interested in his thought provoking and top of mind topic on the future of work and how weโre going to be leading the next generation of leaders.
Cheryl Goodwin, CPA
Dan is a conference organizerโs ideal speaker. Not only did he inspire and energize our group, but he also masterfully adapted his content so it resonated with the audience and our conference theme. As a bonus, Dan is able to nimbly navigate to adjust to a reduced time slot when other speakers went over time without sacrificing the impact of his session.
Director and General Counsel
Dan accomplished what we set out to do, which was not only to be inspirational, but also to leave everyone with tools and food for thought / self-reflection to improve their personal and professional lives.
