I was 8 years old when the 1980s started and I was 18 when they ended. To say I was a child of the 80s is an understatement.
I mastered the Rubik's Cube. Played Atari for hours. Recorded Mork & Mindy and ALF on a Beta machine. I watched the Space Shuttle Challenger live on TV. Enjoyed the "cold war" as a teenager.
But there was also the music.
There is much to be ridiculed about music from the 1980s. But there is much to love, too.
It seemed to be the era of the synthesizer. I even asked my dad to purchase one for our home. The Yamaha DX7 was where I learned to play anything by Vangelis (hint: the theme from Chariots of Fire) and Van Halen's Jump. So, so good.
There are many different genres to explore within the sounds of the 1980s. This playlist is my first attempt, one that highlights artists who influenced me to get my "weird" on as a kid. I hope you enjoy it.

Dan not only brought his presentation to life with his charisma, but also content, style and presentation finesse. Our members were especially interested in his thought provoking and top of mind topic on the future of work and how weโre going to be leading the next generation of leaders.
Cheryl Goodwin, CPA
Dan is a conference organizerโs ideal speaker. Not only did he inspire and energize our group, but he also masterfully adapted his content so it resonated with the audience and our conference theme. As a bonus, Dan is able to nimbly navigate to adjust to a reduced time slot when other speakers went over time without sacrificing the impact of his session.
Director and General Counsel
Dan accomplished what we set out to do, which was not only to be inspirational, but also to leave everyone with tools and food for thought / self-reflection to improve their personal and professional lives.
